Compliance Statements

WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)

A.R.G ElectroDesign are fully compliant with the WEEE Directive as of 1 January 2007.

The WEEE Directive is European environmental legislation which aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment by increasing re-use and recycling and therefore reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for financing the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. It is one of a small number of European Directives which implement the principle of "extended producer responsibility". Under this principle producers are required to take responsibility for the environmental impact of their products and obliges the manufacturer to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

RoHS Directive

The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

All A.R.G products are manufactured within the guidelines of the RoHS Directive as of 1 July 2006.

Met Mark

The MET Marks are registered certification mark of METLABS. METLABS is an independent product-safety testing and certification organization. The MET Marks may only be used on or in connection with products certified by MET and under the terms of written agreement with MET.

An electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical product bearing the North American MET Listed mark signifies that it was tested and meets the minimum requirements of prescribed product safety standards. Moreover, the mark indicates that the manufacturer's production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to periodic follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance.

In the 1970s and 1980s, MET made headlines by challenging UL's dominance of product safety certification. In 1989, MET's efforts were rewarded by the Federal government by becoming the first Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in the United States.

What's the process:

  • G&M Compliance Laboratory can provide MET witness testing
  • Provide a complete description of the product, list all components, include all diagrams, identify all materials, include all instruction manuals, plus other information as prescribed by MET.
  • Provide a test sample.
